Senior Center October News Includes Reopening

Reopening? It looks like the next step in the Senior Center returning to something resembling “normal” will happen October 1. All COVID policies and procedures will be in place, including a limit of about 40 people in the building at any one time. As always, feel free to contact the Center at 508-966-0398 for more information and updated plans.   

COA Meeting— Oct. 13, 11 am, via Zoom.

SPIRITUAL BOOK CLUB—Beginning on October 19, Josie Dutil will lead a weekly Zoom program on Mondays, at 2 pm, discussing books that examine spiritual matters. First up: The Four Agreements. To sign up, email [email protected].

Wellness Webinars

Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA offers two opportunities this month to participate in educational activities and learn more about staying healthy and safe.
  • Calming Anxiety in Times of Uncertainty— Monday, October 5, 10:30—11am. Register at bcbsma.info/Oct5.
  • Yoga: Chair Stretches & Guided Relaxation—Tuesday, October 20, 11—11:30 am. Register at bcbsma.info/Oct20.

Outdoor Exercise Programs

•    Chair Yoga—Tues., at 10 am, $3 donation requested); Thu., at 9:30 am, $5 donation requested.
•    Senior Dance Exercise—Fridays, 9:30am, $5.
•    Walking Club—Fridays, 8 am; meet at SNET walking trail on Center Street. Bring a mask. Dogs are welcome, too, but only on a leash.

MEMORY CAFE
Our Memory Cafe is a social event for family members and individuals experiencing cognitive changes from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Dancing and other entertainment is included. Sat-urday, October 24th, at 10am. Please join us via Zoom. SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders)
During the annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period (October 15—December 7), you will have a chance to change your plan for next year. SHINE’s certified Medicare counselors can help you understand your plan changes, as well as other options you may have.  SHINE representative Jean Roy will be available on October 14 and 28.
