Volunteers Put in Greenhouse Foundation, Shed at Bellingham Community Garden

By J.D. O’Gara
On Saturday, June 11th, members of the Bellingham Community Garden and Garden Club of Bellingham, MA, with help from RJD Construction, braved some hot sun and erected a new shed and laid the foundation for a new greenhouse on site at the Bellingham Community Garden on Center Street. The volunteers used funds from the Food Infrastructure Grant received this year. The greenhouse will soon be completed for seedling cultivation and to extend the growing season. The group, in fact, purchased an air bender to bend the pipes for the greenhouse, which was a less expensive option than purchasing pre-bend rods. “We are looking forward to seeing what the Town of Bellingham does with the grant funds on the Farmstand for the market this year,” said Micky DeFosses, Bellingham Community Garden manager.
