On September 28, the Bellingham Public Library welcomed musician Alida Santandrea (pictured above), who presented a Native American flute program. A graduate of the Blackstone school system, Alida explained how she became interested in flutes as part of their music program, stressing the importance of music in education. Having laid out a sampling of different flutes, Alida explained a little about each one before playing for the crowd.  Most of her songs were improvised, and she invited the audience to close their eyes, relax, and even meditate to their haunting sounds.
