The Bellingham Women of Today had a great year with many activities for the community in spite of COVID restrictions. During the fall and winter months, a Halloween house-decorating contest was held, a holiday donation was made to the St. Blaise Adopt-a-Family program, 74 letters from Santa were sent and 125 gift bags were made and delivered by the Meals on Wheels program to Bellingham seniors and an assisted living facility.
Spring brought gift bags of goodies for the elderly housebound on the Meals-on-Wheels program, 41 letters from the Easter bunny were mailed and members were secret Easter bunnies hiding gift-filled eggs for local families.
The group provided two scholarships to Bellingham High School students, furthering their education. The Joanne Eisner scholarship was awarded to Cameron Hasselbaum, and the BWOT scholarship was awarded to Kara Gerrish.
Annual elections were held, and the new board consists of President, Sue Beattie; Treasurer/PR, Dee Clark; Membership/ID, Julie Hutchinson; Secretary, Dawn Schilke; and Sunshine Fund, Phyllis Russel.
Proceeds from BWOT activities are returned to the community in the way of donations, $1,750 during 2020-2021.
These are just some of the BWOT local projects. We would like you to join us as we continue to serve our community. We are open to men and women 18 years or older. We meet September through June on the second Monday of the month at 7:30. We will announce our new meeting place in the fall.
