JUNE 2 & JUNE 16—SHINE.  Do you need help with Medicare costs? You can make a telephone appointment to speak with SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) representative Jean Roy by calling the senior center at 508-966-0398. Appointments are 45 minutes long and are scheduled between 9am and 12 PM. Please call ahead or email Jean at [email protected].

The MassHealth Buy-in Program, also called Medicare Savings Program, will pay for the Part B monthly premium, $148.50 per month. These programs may also help pay some out-of-pocket costs of Medicare.The buy-in programs can also help get Medicare Part B for people who have only Medicare Part A.

If you are in a Buy-In program, you will also be automatically enrolled in the Medicare Part D Extra Help program through Social Security, which can help with pharmacy costs.

JUNE 8 — COA Board meeting, 11:30 am.

JUNE 10 — Hip Hop Dance Chair Class.  Join us at 11am on June 10 for this fun, safe, stimulating exercise class. FREE

JUNE 11 — Live Drive-In Concert. Beginning at 5pm, you can enjoy the music of Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards, who have contributed their first decade to the legacy of American folk and country music. They have shared emotively intelligent lyrics, unmistakable vocal harmonies, and a unique blend of instrumentation with audiences throughout the US and Canada. See them at the Bellingham High School parking lot. Limited space; bring a chair. Food will be available from Larry Joe’s food truck, New England Fire Pit. For reservations, call 508-966-0398. JUNE 24 — Home Hearing Health. Join a hearing expert for free advice on hearing problems; in-person appointments begin at 10am. Call the Senior Center, 508-966-0398, to book yours.

Weekly Programs

Mondays — Spiritual Book Club. The book is Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown; begins at 10:30 am, via Zoom. Email Josie at [email protected] to sign up.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays — Enhance Fitness is a physical activity program comprising three sessions per week designed to safely increase participants’ fitness levels through aerobic and strength-training exercises while building a sense of community and social connectedness.

Enhance Fitness has been proven to increase participants’ strength, balance, flexibility, mood, general activity level, and independence when they attend on a regular basis. The program is beneficial for older adults in general, but has been deemed particularly safe and effective for older adults living with arthritis.

Space is limited to 15 participants, and the cost is $25 for the 16-week program, which will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8am. A free demo week begins on June 8; the actual series begins on the following Tuesday, June 15.
