The Milligan Family

A fundraiser has been planned by Melissa (Ranieri) Bertonazzi and Joe Bertonazzi to benefit the Milligan family. The Cornhole tournament will be held on Saturday, April 10th, at Next9Up, 40 Kenwood Circle, Suite 6, Franklin. Following is the background information:

"A few weeks ago, we lost a good friend of ours, Jason Milligan," Melissa explained. "Jason passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 42. He was a Bellingham guy who I went to high school with and Joe had the privilege to coach with at Bellingham Youth Baseball. Jason left behind his best friend and the love of his life, his wife of 13 years, Melissa. He also leaves behind his four children, three of which are in the Bellingham school system. He was an amazing father who was very involved in his kids' lives and in the Bellingham community especially in the Bellingham youth baseball and football programs."

"As you can imagine, this is a devastating time for Melissa and the kids. Our hope is as a community we can all come together and rally behind them and give them the strength they need to get through this."

"When Joe and I learned of this tragic loss we immediately we knew we had to do something to help Melissa and the kids. Together with a good friend we decided to host a Cornhole Tournament in the memory of Jason and to help raise money for his family. After talking to a few members of the Bellingham Youth Baseball Board, some of our friends and some local businesses about our idea they all decided to jump on board with us and help make this possible."

"So now is where you fit in - we need your help! We are asking our community to join us in making this an incredible event so we can take some of the financial burden off Melissa’s shoulders as she and the kids grieve and try and figure out how to adjust to their new norm without their rock. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to the Milligan Family."

"The Cornhole tournament will be held on Saturday, April 10th at Next9Up, 40 Kenwood Circle, Suite 6, Franklin, MA. Due to COVID protocols the facility is currently operating at 50 percent capacity, so we need to schedule the day so not to have everybody there at the same time. Please register your team ($50/person; $100/team) ASAP so that we can get the bracket going. There will be a ton of amazing items being raffled off and a great prize for the tournament winners."

Here are ways you can help make this event success for the Milligans:

- FIND A PARTNER AND REGISTER FOR THE TOURNAMENT! You can Venmo $100 to @jasonmilligan-fundraiser then to complete the registration process please send an email to [email protected] with the names of the two people who are participating.

- DONATE RAFFLE PRIZES AND/OR MONEY.  Please reach out to me or my husband Joe at the numbers below if you are interested. (We would like to have all raffle donations in by April 1st.)

- BUY A MARGARITA OR TWO AND MENTION THE FUNDRAISER. We have partnered with PJ'S Bar & Grill, 191 Mechanic Street, Bellingham, so that during the week prior to the event, $1 of every $5 margarita sold will be donated to the Milligan fundraiser. On the day of the event, April 10th, 15% of all checks from those who have mentioned the tournament will go to the fundraiser as well. We thank PJ's so much for helping the family!

Helen Keller said “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Right now, during this tragic time, Melissa and the kids need their village, their people and their community. Please come out and be part of this special event to remember a great guy who’s life was cut far too short and help us be there for his family in their time of need. Thank you in advance and please feel free to share this info with everyone and anyone, plus you can visit and share our Facebook page for the event https://fb.me/e/2dZXEhc3s

Thank you again,
Melissa and Joe Bertonazzi
