The Bellingham Senior Center continues to offer $2 lunches to seniors, although on a modified schedule for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. These lunches are provided by community donations and through the generosity of PJ’s Bar & Grill. Please call 508-966-0398 one week ahead to order your meal; pick up & pay between 11:30am and 12:30pm. (The Senior Center subsidizes these meals, and to help off-set the cost, donations would be appreciated. Email Josie at [email protected] for more information.)

In addition to the $2 meals, the Drive-By-Cookouts will continue through November. Every Thursday through the month (with the exception of Thanksgiving), the Bellingham Elder Service Group (BESG) will offer a variety of sandwiches, chips, drinks and desserts for about $6 per meal. BESG president Bill Eltzroth says they’re changing the time to 12 to 2pm. “It’s getting darker earlier, so we’re adjusting the time.” Since the cookouts started in July, more than 800 people have enjoyed these meals.

AND IN DECEMBER…
The Lion’s Club, which usually treats seniors to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, will offer “Turkey Dinner Pickup” this year. The menu includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, cranberry sauce, roll, and apple crisp. PJ’s Bar & Grille will prepare the meals. The date is December 5, and pick up time at the Center will be from 11am to noon. Delivery options are available for those without transportation. The meal is free, but limited to 100 Bellingham seniors. Reservations need to be made before November 30 by calling the Senior Center at 508-966-0398.
