Local authors Amy Bartelloni and Marjorie Turner Hollman recently offered a book publishing workshop at the Bellingham Public Library.

Attendees expressed interest in writing memoirs; fiction, both young adult and romantic as well as science fiction; poetry and children's books. They addressed both traditional publishing and self-publishing. A discussion led by the authors covered working with agents, what is involved in getting a manuscript ready for publication, and how to obtain your own ISBN (International Standard Book Number).

The authors brought numerous samples of their published books and explained some of the financial and other considerations behind choosing to pursue either traditional or self-publishing.

Bartelloni and Hollman lead a local writing group that meets every 2nd Monday at the Bellingham library, and the public is welcome to join the group to share their writing, or simply come to listen to the variety of writing being created by local authors.
