The Bellingham Fire Department brought fire safety instruction to South Elementary students on June 12th and 13th, taking each classroom one at a time through the fire safety house.

The SAFE (Student Awareness of Fire Education) House program is a practical way for firefighters to reinforce the lessons they teach in the classroom. The program ranged from what to do when a smoke alarm sounds to how to react when you see smoke and fire, including practicing unlocking windows and climbing down ladders. Every student at South had an opportunity to practice these important safety procedures.
