Following is at-a-glance listing of January senior center news/events.

The Giving Tree—On behalf of the Bellingham Senior Center and Abby Cirioni, coordinator of the Giving Tree, our sincere thanks to the 21 volunteers and individuals that donated the hand-knitted items for the tree. A total of 245 adorned the tree and will be distributed to those in need. Thank you!
 
Book Club—The goal of this new club is to read one book every 4–6 weeks and then meet to discuss it. Sign-up for the planning meeting on Mon, Jan. 29, at 11 am, if you’re interested..

From GATRA— There will be no Dial-a-Ride services on Mon, Jan. 15 (MLK Day); the Shuttle will run as usual. Please note that if there’s no school, GATRA Dial-a-Ride services will be suspended, and all Senior Center programming will be cancelled. (GATRA shuttle services will remain in operation as long as the trains are running.)

BESG January Luncheon—Tue, Jan. 2, 12pm; $7 for members, $10 for non-members. Shepherd’s Pie, catered by Chef du Jour.

Triad: A DVD Presentation on Injury & Fall Prevention in the Home—Thu, Jan. 4, 11am–12pm; free (sponsored by the District Attorney’s Office). Learn how to prevent injuries and falls and implement fire prevention practices at home. Call the Senior Center, 508-966-0398, to sign up.

Joy of Learning: The Ottoman Empire—Tue, Jan. 9, 16, 23 & 30, 1:30 pm; free. Enjoy a 30-minute DVD presentation followed by a group discussion. 

New Year’s Ice Cream Social—Thu, Jan. 11, 1 pm; free. Ring in the New Year with an ice cream social. Call 508-966-0398 to sign up.

How to Make a Fleece Blanket —Thu, Jan. 18, 1 pm; free. Bring two 2-yard pieces of fleece or a large kit. Call 508-966-0398 to sign up.

Foxwoods Trip—Thu, Jan. 18; depart 7:45 am; return 5 pm; $22 per person.

BESG Birthday Party—Tue, Jan. 25, 12-2 pm; $9 per person; ham dinner catered by Mickey G’s.

Recycling Center Winter Hours—The Recycling Center on So. Maple St. will be open Saturdays only, 8 am–4 pm.

Winter Parking Ban—Dec. 15–April 1: Parking on town roads is prohibited, 2–7 am.
