Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Certified by Industry Leader

Milford Regional is proud to announce the certification of our Cardiac Rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Milford Regional was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.

Cardiac rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems (e.g., heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery) recover faster and improve their quality of life. Cardiac rehabilitation includes exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.

Milford Regional’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program participated in an application process that requires extensive documentation of the program’s practices. AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies.

The program is reviewed by the AACVPR Program Certification Committee and Certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors. AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available.  CVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.

“Congratulations to our cardiac rehabilitation team for their recognition of excellence in caring for cardiac patients by the AACVPR,” says Edward J. Kelly, president and CEO of Milford Regional. “If anyone has ever had the pleasure of witnessing the positive and healing energy that exists between patient and staff during our cardiac rehab program as I have, you understand its significance in supporting a sustained recovery.”

The Breast Center Earns National Accreditation

The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), has granted three-year accreditation to Milford Regional’s Breast Center.

The accreditation is only given to those centers that have committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. A breast center must demonstrate compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in the areas of center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.

“Milford Regional is very fortunate to have the expertise and caring of our breast surgeons Salwa Fam, MD,  and Ashling O’Connor, MD, leading our Breast Center,” said Kelly.  “Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of experienced medical professionals from Milford Regional and Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, patients of The Breast Center are assured expert care with our program that has, once again, received national accreditation. Congratulations to the entire Breast Center team!”
