Gladu Disposal will once again donate the use of a food-collection container

Rhode Island Athletic Club will host their 2nd Annual Ride-A-Thon this Saturday, November 12th from 8:00am - 6:00pm.  Three Rhode Island Athletic Club employees will cycle on a stationary spin bike for 10 hours collecting non-perishable food items that will be donated to three local food pantries.  Last year the event was able to collect over 3,000 pounds of food that was donated to local charities and assist in feeding fellow neighbors in need of the support. The goal is to fill a large roll of container with all the food items.  The roll off container will again be donated by Gladu Wrecking and Recycling.

Members and Non-members are encouraged to come out to participate.  Rhode Island Athletic Club asks that anyone that would like to cycle for any amount of time donate a non-perishable food item.

"The support we received last year was just incredible." said Michael Reynolds owner of Rhode Island Athletic Club, "People would drive by and see what we were doing then come back 30 minutes later with cases of can goods.  It's unfortunate how many members of our community are in need but it's uplifting to see how many people are willing to donate."

Anyone can come by and hop on a bike to cycle.  There will be four actual cycling classes held at 8 AM, 9 AM, 10 AM, and 11 AM.  The rest of the day will be filled with music, fun and plenty of good times.

The three local food panties that will be receiving the donations are Because He Lives Ministries, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs and Saint Josephs food pantries.  For more information, contact Michael Reynolds at 401-766-7422 or via email at [email protected].
