Shown unloading donations for the food pantry are (L-R) Rebecca O’Brien, Jocelyn & Dr. Tim Murzycki, Sara Martin and Debbie Murzycki.

Cornerstone Family Chiropractic held their first annual “FoodRaiser” at the Bellingham High School on April 23 to benefit the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at Bellingham’s St. Blaise Church. Dozens of families went to the high school to enjoy an afternoon of family entertainment. The cost of admission was free with a bag of items to be donated to the Loaves and Fishes Pantry.

The afternoon began with a kids yoga demonstration by Kathleen Kavanagh, yoga instructor from Franklin Yoga and Wellness. She had children (and parents) come up to the stage area to participate in some yoga poses set to music.

Lucky Bob, a magician, juggler and comedian from Boston, took the stage next to deliver some laughs and show off his talents. With the help of several volunteers, he wowed and thrilled audience members. There were very few moments that the auditorium was not filled with laughter.

Dr. Murzycki of Cornerstone Family Chiropractic along with his staff hope to make this an annual event. “My wife and I are both from Bellingham; I practice in Bellingham and I have fond memories of volunteering for the food pantry when I was growing up. Our office was very happy to give back to a community that does so much for us.”

Over 40 bags of groceries were donated to the pantry, including nonperishable food items, diapers, and wipes, with monetary donations as well. The Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry serves anywhere from 60-100 households a week.

“The months that receive the lowest donations are June, July and August, so we wanted to help stock their shelves before summer hit,” said Murzycki. (See related article on pg. 3.)
“Cornerstone Family Chiropractic would like to thank our wonderful sponsors and Junior National  Honor Society volunteers for making it a truly memorable event. We look forward to next year’s,” said Murzycki.

Donations can be made to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, 1158 South Main St., Bellingham, MA.
