Santa’s Elves Telethon Set for Dec. 8

Nov 28, 2015 11:34AM ● By Pamela Johnson
Thanks to the generosity of businesses and residents, this year’s Bellingham Women of Today’s Santa’s Elves telethon auction is on the way to becoming another success. A variety of gift certificates and gift baskets has been received and will be auctioned off during the telethon.  So tune in, watch, and bid on December 8, from 7 to 9pm on Access Bellingham/Mendon, Inc. (channel 8 on Comcast, channel 47 on Verizon). Also, for those out of town, you can watch via streaming video at www.abmi8.org.

Santa will make an appearance and be on hand to take phone calls from children via the Santa phone line. The phone number will be announced during the telecast.  While Santa is on camera, Mrs. Clause or an elf will be available.

Monetary donations are welcome and will go toward the goal of Santa’s Elves to make sure all Bellingham families have a Merry Christmas.  All toys and money will be given to the St. Blaise Adopt-a-Family program and a local women-and-children’s shelter to provide children’s gifts, food and clothing. Last year, over 300 children and their families were helped through the St. Blaise program.

The BWOT are now booking adult and children’s talent acts, performers and scout troops to appear during the show. Musicians, dancers, singers, puppets, and martial arts demos are just an example of past entertainment. If you have a talent you would like to showcase, please send information about your program and a way to contact you to BWOT, PO Box 405, Bellingham, MA 02019 or email [email protected].

The BWOT and Cable 8 have been airing the telethon since 1987 and it has become a holiday tradition.  The show is hosted by Linda Trudeau, members of the BWOT and special guests. Last year gifts and donations valued at over $5,000 poured in from individuals, local scouting troops, and many businesses in town. Donations may be mailed to BWOT, PO Box 405, Bellingham, MA 02019, presented on air during the telethon at the cable station, 10 William Way in Bellingham, or by email at [email protected].
