Harvestfest 2015 Offers Free Family Fun

On Saturday, Sept. 26, the annual Harvestfest took place on the Bellingham town common. Organized by the First Baptist and Bellingham Bible Baptist churches, the event features fun for the entire family--and all for free! According to organizer Pastor Baron Rodrigues, "We're two small churches trying to do something big."
And something big is what they did. Attendance was good, in spite
the organizers having missed some opportunities to get the event publicized in local papers, including the Bellingham Bulletin. The warm, sunny day, balloons, signs and police officer directing traffic in front of the town common all helped to draw attention to the activities taking place there.
Activities included face painting, crafts, hair-beading, puppet shows and games throughout the day, as well as opportunities to "touch a truck," courtesy of the Bellingham Fire Department, and pet animals courtesy of Iron Shoe Farm Petting Zoo. At 11:30 a.m., Northeastern Tae Kwon Do Academy performed a martial arts demonstration, followed at 12 p.m. by a tai chi demo led by Jeanne Donnelly, also of Northeastern Tae Kwon Do and Makoto Do. Students of Marcov Sharp Gymnastics were also on hand to do an impressive demonstration at 12:30 p.m. The highlight of the afternoon was the concert at 2 pm by national recording artists The Truth Christian Gospel Band.
