Jun 29, 2015 11:35AM ● By Pamela Johnson

Class of 2015 Student Council President Michele Fortin of Bellingham joined her friend and classmate Steven Anthony Christy of Millbury. Michele graduated from the BVT Painting and Design Technologies program, and Steven graduated from the Auto Tech program.

Valley Tech is proud to recognize the class of 2015 officers and students speakers: Class President Veronica Auger of  Milford; Vice President Ella Dehestani of Millville; Secretary Samantha Smith of Upton; Historian Ricky Gonzalez of Douglas; Valedictorian Eric Carkin of Sutton; Salutatorian Suzanne Wright of Bellingham; and Student Council President Michelle Fortin of Bellingham.

Suzanne Wright, Salutatorian, Business Technology, Bellingham, had this to say: "I believe that by choosing to attend Blackstone Valley Tech, you have already proven yourself to be ambitious. You decided to come to a new school, maybe even in a new town, with only a few familiar faces, in order to pursue a vocational technical education that would give you an advantage in the workforce. Determination and hard work are among the many elements it has required to learn both academics and a trade over the past four years, but you have clearly already succeeded by being here tonight.

"By alternating between academics and shop, you have learned how to manage your time in order to work afterschool jobs or co-op positions, finish your homework, participate in extracurricular activities and play sports. You have learned how to be innovative problem-solvers and critical thinkers. You have even held leadership positions in classrooms, shops, clubs and sports and given back to your community through shop-integration projects and community service.

"Blackstone Valley Tech Class of 2015, continue to be ambitious, innovative problem-solvers, hard-workers, critical thinkers, strong leaders and compassionate humans and you will achieve amazing accomplishments in the future."

Student Council President Fortin, a Painting and Design Technologies graduate from Bellingham, credited the BVT Student Council with providing her opportunities to develop skills she'll always carry on her career pathway.  "I would never have imagined myself standing on this stage in front of all of you tonight giving my last remarks on my high school experience, nor did I ever believe that I would be able to fit the spot as President," Fortin said.  "Without the leadership skills from State Student Council conferences freshman year, and the National conference I attended this past summer, this would not be possible."

The following is a list of Bellingham students in the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School 2015 graduating class. A commencement ceremony was held on Thursday, May 28 at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester. Students and their vocational technical programs are grouped by hometown and listed alphabetically by last name.
