Mount St. Charles Seeks Host Families

Apr 30, 2015 12:01PM ● By Pamela Johnson
Mount Saint Charles Academy is seeking host families for international students for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year. This is an unparalleled experience for not only the international students coming here, but for the host family as well. Currently, Mount has, but is not limited to, students from China and South Korea enrolled.

By participating and hosting a student, families are getting direct exposure to a different culture.  In return, host families are providing a life experience that these students might never have the opportunity to be exposed to again. Once the students are matriculating through Mount, they can become involved in sports, after school activities, and an academic program that, in the Mount tradition, will form them as a whole person and give them extraordinary college opportunities.

Rae Ann Barrette, Mount’s coordinator for international students, said, “Mount’s program offers a unique opportunity for students and host families to build long-lasting relationships because, unlike a typical short-term exchange program, many students remain at Mount for the duration of their high school careers and attend American colleges and universities.”   During the 2014 commencement ceremony in June, 11 international students graduated from the Academy, which makes it the largest group in a Mount graduating class to date.

This is an F-1 visa program that provides a monthly stipend to help participating households with expenses. If interested in being a host family, please contact Ms. Rae Ann Barrette at [email protected].
