University of Minnesota Extension’s “Head to the Kitchen” workshop is designed for entry-level food business participants such as small- to mid-scale farmers and growers, food producers and processors, food entrepreneurs, and cottage food producers to gain critical food safety knowledge. Attendees interested in expanding or starting a food-processing or value-added food business will learn essential food safety information that will help them confidently plan their business and interact with regulators. During the workshop, participants will learn about the different food business options, how to include food safety practices into the business planning and operation, as well as, have the opportunity to connect with Extension food safety educators and other food business owners. The food business options covered in this workshop are cottage foods, Product of the Farm, Retail Food Handler and Wholesale Food Processor/Manufacturer. Audience: Small- to mid-scale farmers and growers; food entrepreneurs who have an idea but aren't sure where to start; current food producers and processors who are planning to expand their food business’ volume or product offerings; and cottage food producers
