A Jazz Winter's Eve

Warm Up with Jazz and Modern Dance

A Cross Cultivation of Local Jazz & Dance Communities Singer songwriter Denise "Red" Randall presents a host of fabulous performers for a delightful evening of song, musicianship and dance! A truly "melting pot" cultural show embracing our diversity! The songs will be a unique variety of jazz, latin music and other forms of contemporary music chosen for this special evening. The criteria for song selection: to tickle the imagination of our audience, to soothe the spirit, to alternatively make them laugh , and ultimately, to inspire! “Jazz is all about improvisation; while there is usually structure underlying the improvised solos, the soloist is free to use a musical vocabulary to express him or herself. What we are doing is offering our dancers the same opportunity of expression except they are using their dance vocabulary to tell their story.” — DENISE RANDALL The event will begin 7:30 and run for around 2 hours. Tickets can be purchased at the box office on show night, $20 for adults and $15 for kids under 14 and seniors, or they can be reserved by calling (508) 293-1702. Randall added, “Jazz is all about improvisation; while there is usually structure to the improvised solos, the soloist is free to use a musical vocabulary to express him or herself. What we are doing is offering our dancers the same opportunity of expression except they are using their dance vocabulary to tell their story.” This year’s star-studded ensemble includes The Craig Hlady Quartet, featuring Craig Hlady on guitar, Dave Ramsay on Piano, Dave Clark on Bass, and Casey Scheurerell on drums. Randall will also be performing with the Quartet as well as soloists Bobby Tynes on Saxophone and Tracy Tynes on Vocals. In addition, during the reception from 7:30 to 8:00, Jazz Violinist Grey Gafarov and his Ensemble, made up of students from the New England Conservatory, will perform. Song Caravan also presents an impressive “dream team” dance cast, featuring choreographer and dancer Rick Vigo, dancer Rachel Burke, dancer Tony Tucker, dancer Maya Holden, and choreographer and dancer Maureen McAnulty. It's a once in a lifetime, one of a kind show for all ages. Members of the press who are interested in reporting about the event are encouraged to contact Denise Red Randall and Song Caravan, LLC.
