"Meet the Candidates" at BBA Forum

Thanks to the Bellingham Business Association, residents of the 8th Worcester District will have an opportunity before the state primary on September 4th to get an up-close and personal look at the candidates who have thrown their hats into the State Rep ring.

The candidates include two Democrats- Patrick Malone of Uxbridge and Bellingham native Kevin Tagliaferri- and two Republicans- Ryan Chamberland of Blackstone and Mike Soter of Bellingham.

“Meet the Candidates Night” is a free event that is open to residents throughout the district, which comprises the towns of Bellingham, Blackstone, Millville and Uxbridge. The forum will take place on Tuesday, August 7, at Coachmen’s Lodge Restaurant, from 6:30 to 8 pm. Light refreshments will be available as well as a cash bar.

Bellingham Business Association (BBA) President John Orthman explained, “Each of the four candidates will be given 10 minutes to address the audience. After they are done speaking, questions will be taken from the audience as time permits, and all of the candidates will have an opportunity to respond in a rotating order.”

Although the BBA is non-political, over the years it has hosted forums as a public service to introduce the candidates to voters; however, the BBA never endorses a candidate.

Business owners and self-employed individuals who live in Bellingham or have businesses located in Bellingham are welcome to join the BBA. The organization provides networking, support, and professional development opportunities in relaxed settings at its monthly dinner meetings, September through June.

It awards two $1500 scholarships annually to Bellingham seniors bound for higher education. Their main fundraiser is the annual golf tournament, held on the second Tuesday in September (this year, Sept. 11) at New England Country Club. (For more information, visit www. So sharpen your pencil and mark your calendar; start jotting down questions that you’d like to ask the State Representative candidates.
