It’s generally understood that if you’re craving a great steak, you don’t go to a fast food restaurant to get it—you go to a steakhouse. The same may be said of mortgages. If you need a mortgage, it makes sense to turn to a mortgage specialist. Trish Luchini and Marshall Day have been helping people in the greater Milford area obtain mortgages since 2002, first as the independent mortgage brokers All Mass Mortgage, LLC, and then, since 2014, as mortgage Loan Officers with Village Mortgage.

Village Mortgage Company, based in Avon, Connecticut, was looking to expand and open offices in Massachusetts. After doing extensive research, Luchini and Day decided to make the move to Village Mortgage. Village was one of the lenders that they had already developed a good working relationship with, and they knew it was a quality, well-run organization that focused on the needs of their borrowers. January 2017 marked their third anniversary with the company and both of them agree that it has worked out very well.

While most banks offer mortgages along with many other services, Village Mortgage, as the name implies, offers mortgages only. “That’s all we do,” explained Luchini. “We’re able to offer personalized service—we’ll even meet with the customer in their home—extremely competitive rates, and quick closings [from as little as 30 days to the occasional 45 days].”

“And we’re good at what we do,” said Day. The fact that they funded $30 million in mortgages last year in the Milford office alone would seem to support his claim.

Village Mortgage offers a variety of programs, some requiring 0% down payment, including FHA, USDA, VA, Home-Ready and conventional mortgages. “We have more flexibility for a wide variety of customers,” Luchini continued. “If a customer has questionable credit, we’ll work with them, advising them on what steps they could take to improve their credit scores.”
Luchini and Day will help homeowners refinance. “We’ve helped owners who were ‘upside down’ [meaning their mortgage was higher than the value of their home], and others who wanted to access cash for home improvements. We’ve also helped people save thousands of dollars by reducing the length of their mortgages, from 30 years to 20, 15, or 10 years,” said Day.

“We always try to match the home-buyer with the best product for them,” Luchini pointed out, “We try to give everyone options, and we always try to do right by our customers. This means that we’ve actually turned business away if we didn’t feel it was in the customer’s best interest.”

Home values have drastically increased, so if you’ve been thinking of selling your home, now is a great time to do it. “It’s a seller’s market right now,” said Luchini. “We actually have people prequalified for mortgages who cannot find the right home to buy due to low inventory.”
