Linda Trudeau has a dream and is working to make it come true. “I would like to see an active adult theater group in Bellingham,” she said in a recent conversation. “This would be beyond the children’s theater that has been in Bellingham for years. I’d like to see a program that would be for older students and adults—intergenerational.”

Trudeau has enlisted the help of Alyssa Rae Surrette, one of Trudeau’s students when Trudeau was running the Bellingham Arts Center. Surette is offering voice and tap classes at the Bellingham Senior Center, 2:30–4 pm, for a 6-week session. Classes cost $8 per class, but once this first session concludes, more sessions will be scheduled.

“I’d love to provide the opportunity for those who participated in the Arts Center program and have gone on for more training to be able to show people what they’ve accomplished,” Trudeau said. “Alyssa is just one of the many students who have gone on for further training in the arts.”
The first session is nearing its conclusion, but it’s not too late to get involved. “Everything has a beginning,” Trudeau pointed out. “I’d rather have a small group to begin with. We don’t want to discourage anybody. Once this gets going, friends will tell friends. Word of mouth will help it grow.”

Trudeau urges any one interested to contact the Senior Center at 508-966-0398 to sign up, or call Trudeau at 508-883-4442 for more information.
