Franklin Coffeehouse to Host Folk Singer Mark Erelli

Feb 17, 2015 09:55AM ● By Pamela Johnson

Mark Erelli has been dubbed “the male counterpart to Neko Case.”

Acclaimed folk singer Mark Erelli travels his own road which will bring him to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse on Saturday, February 28th.  Erelli has tackled everything from western swing and protest songs to lullabies and murder ballads, all in a richly expressive voice that Twangville.com heralds as “the male counterpart to Neko Case.” It is a journey that has taken Erelli from church basement coffeehouses to the main stage of the Newport Folk Festival, stopping briefly along the way to sing the national anthem at Fenway Park.

In addition to his solo career Mark also performs with  bluegrass band Barnstar! and he has gained notoriety as a multi-instrumentalist sideman, accompanying artists such as Lori McKenna and Josh Ritter everywhere from Nashville's Grand Ole Opry to London's Royal Albert Hall.

This will be a CD release concert for his latest CD, Milltowns, a tribute to Bill Morrissey.  Mark will be joined by Richard Gates, who played bass with Bill, and Jim Henry.   http://markerelli.com/
