Bellingham High School Valedictorian and Salutatorian Announced

Principal Peter Marano is pleased to announce that Monica Manickam and Alexandra Henderson have been named Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively, of the Bellingham High School Class of 2014.
Class Valedictorian, Monica Manickam, is the daughter of Meenakshi and Swaminathan Manickam of 36 Whitehall Way. Monica is a two-year distinguished member and Treasurer of the National Honor Society. She is also a member of the Bellingham High School Student Council. Monica is a John and Abigail Adams Scholar and a recipient of the AP Scholar with Honor Award. Committed to community service, she was nominated for the Good Citizenship Award through the Daughters of the American Revolution, is an active member of the Bellingham Youth Volunteer Association, and also volunteers at many local organizations, including Milford Regional Medical Center and Sri Lakshmi Temple. An exceptional individual, Monica is Captain of the Varsity Volleyball team and graduated as a professional dancer in Bharathanatyam in 20ll. This fall, Monica will attend Cornell University and will major in chemical and bimolecular engineering.
Class salutatorian, Alexandra Henderson, is the daughter of John and Alison Henderson of 49 Hixon Street in Bellingham. Alexandra has been a National Honor Society member since grade 11. Alexandra has maintained a 4.0 grade point average, and she is a recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship. In addition, Alexandra has been designated as a National Merit Commended Scholar. The College Board has designated Alexandra as an Advanced Placement Scholar. Alexandra is also a recipient of a Bellingham High School Scholar-Athlete Leadership Award. She has been a four-year leader in the student council, and for the past four years, Alexandra has been a varsity cheerleader and a two-year captain. This fall, Alexandra will attend the University of Notre Dame where she will major in political science.
